Extensions and Remodelling to an existing bungalow
Set within the Conservation Area and Greenbelt, this project would prove to have its obstacles. A 1960s bungalow with random stone walling and a dated appearance that required modernising took a prominent position on Corn bank with fantastic views over Magdale Valley.
The clients wanted to make to most of dwelling whilst creating a contemporary feel that was also sympathetic to the Conservation Area. The greenbelt policies restricted how much of the building could be extended and a balance needed to be achieved in addressing all the constraints and obstacles.
The existing bungalow design was at odds with the Conservation Area and refacing the property in render and natural stone both used nearby helped balance the design in terms of its appearance.
Providing rooms in the roof space with pitched roof dormers allowed for a fantastic master bedroom looking over the magnificent views across the valley.
